Social Justice Center, with support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Georgia and the European Union, proudly welcomes the third cohort of the Judiciary and Security School

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Maurice Paulussen, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Georgia. Mr. Paulussen highlighted the crucial role of youth engagement in democratic reforms and justice system development, extending his best wishes to the participants for their success in the program and their future careers.

The new cohort comprises young researchers and students from undergraduate and graduate programs in law and socio-political sciences, all of whom are passionate about justice, democracy, and security.

The Judiciary and Security School aims to provide participants with both academic knowledge and practical insights into the Georgian justice system, including its structure, recent reforms, and ongoing challenges. Additionally, the program seeks to explore the role of justice reform in the European integration process, the effectiveness of judicial oversight of other government branches, and potential solutions to these challenges. Within the school concept, one full day will be dedicated to the democratic oversight instruments of the security sector. The participants will hear about the legislative framework as well as the main challenges in the oversight system from different speakers.
