Police transparency in Georgia

Social Justice Center in cooperation with Transparency international – Georgia (IT) and through the support of Open society Foundation –Georgia (OSGF), is implementing a research project: “Police transparency in Georgia”.

Project aims to measure transparency level of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA), describe concrete deterring factors of the insurance of transparency, increase availability of secured information within Georgian law enforcement bodies and to conduct structural/systematic analyses of the ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA).

To meet the project objectives, degree of availability of Ministry of Internal Affair’s (MIA) public information, quality of their statistical data and methods for its assessment shall be evaluated. Furthermore, project team will look into MIA’s human resource policy.

Project is drafted in cooperation with Transparency International – Georgia (IT), planned activities will be divided between the two organizations according to the essence and competence required to implement the activity.

To further raise awareness and increase public involvement, prepared reports will be made public on the websites of Transparency international – Georgia and Social Justice Center.
