Social Justice Center is implementing a new project – “Protecting Political Neutrality in Police Activity” – from 20^th of July, 2015. The project is financed by Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands.

Over the past one year, Social Justice Center was extensively working on the research of the issues of the law enforcement bodies’ institutional arrangement. The results of the conducted research have shown that the risks of politicization of the police have systemic grounds as the political government’s levels are higher than the police activity.

In the frameworks of the new project, Social Justice Center plans to implement the study of the practical direction of police activity and the monitoring of the protection of police neutrality. The main goal of the project is to support the protection of political neutrality in the police activity.

In the frameworks of the project Social Justice Center will implement:

• Creation of sustainable methodology for monitoring police activity with participation of relevant experts;
• Monitoring of police activity with developed methodology;
• Preparation and distribution of periodic bulletins showing the monitoring results;
• Preparation of the summary report showing the generalized picture of police monitoring results at the end of the project.

Implementing of the police activity monitoring is planned in Tbilisi and Kakheti region in the frameworks of the project. In the monitoring process, Social Justice Center will continue active communication with the partner organization, state institutes and media organizations.

Duration of the Project: July 2015 – July 2016; 

Project Budget: 66,385, 40 EUR.
