Duration: 2020-2021 Year

Social Justice Centerin cooperation with East West Management Institute (EWMI)’s program “Promoting Rule of Law in Georgia” (PROLoG) has commenced a project: “Improving Access to Justice”.

This project aims to improve access to justice in the country. Even though barriers to access to justice is widely examined at an international level, there is lack of relevant information regarding the national context of the issue. The project aims to fill this gap and thus commence a research on the issue of access to justice in Georgia. Based on the methodological framework, project team will conduct a research and examine access to justice at a national level. The research will focus on access to legal service, financial and geographical challenges, societal and cultural barriers, institutional and legislative limitations. Taking into account the results of the study, the project team will develop comprehensive recommendations from a global range of good practice for the relevant state-agencies and conduct advocacy work for improving access to justice.

To achieve this goal, the project sets following objectives:

Objective 1: Elaborate a methodological framework with the support of an expert, conduct research to identify all the barriers to access to justice and provide recommendations;

Objective 2: Increase sensitivity of the main actors and political groups on the issues of access to justice;

Objective 3: Raise awareness regarding the access to justice issues.
