From March 2020, Social Justice Center with the support from The Center for Training and Consultancy (CTC) commenced a new project “Project regarding the need of services, care and policy advocacy”.
Project aims to support the implementation of the recommendations set forth by the NNLE “Alternative Georgia” in the study “Access to Opium Substitution Treatment in the Georgian Penitentiary System”. Advocacy for the implementation of the recommendations set forth in the study should facilitate the introduction of long-term change within the country's penitentiary system at the political level and increase its relevance within the community, to ensure that provided services are equally and effective distrubuted to people in penitentiary institutions.
Within the framework of the project, Social Justice Center will cooperates with the sub-grantee organization "Alternative Georgia". In total, the project envisages implementation of 8 activities, which are clustered under two primary objectives:
Objective 1: To gain political support for the implementation of the recommendations defined withing the study titled “Access to Opium Replacement Treatment in the Georgian Penitentiary System”, by establishing the issue on the political agenda and creating a relevant multilateral working group (with the participation of relevant agencies and experts); Furthermore, develop a draft of changes in the action plan and relevant regulatory acts for the establishment of the OTC program.
Objective 2: Create closed working groups, prepare information brochures and multimedia products to identify the needs and raise awareness of activist groups and service beneficiaries, and further support their involvement in the implementation of project activities.
