From September, 2015, Social Justice Center has started working on a project - “Strengthening SRHR-based approach in the human rights framework of Social Justice Center through tailored capacity building and advocacy activities”. The project is implemented by the help of Swedish Association of Sexual Education (RFSU).

LGBT community represents one of the most marginalized social groups in our reality, the representatives of which go under physical and psychological violence, discrimination and harassment every day. For protecting the LGBT people’s rights, the policy carried out by the state does not reflect adequately the existing challenges and is ineffective. The ineffective investigation and prevention of the hate-crimes by the law-enforcement bodies is the significant problem in this regard.

The goal of the project is to promote the creation of a space free from violence and discrimination towards LGBT community. To achieve this goal Social Justice Center will implement the following activities in the frameworks of this project:

• Advocacy to envisage comprehensive and adequate obligations for promotion an effective protection of LGBT people’s rights in the frameworks of Human Rights Action Plan of the government;
• Preparation of project(s) on law enforcement bodies’ special strategic documents for effective fight against the crimes committed based on homophobia and transphobia;
• Promotion to raise awareness of decision-makers about the significance of space free from violence and discrimination for LGBT people;
• Promotion of strengthening the knowledge about organization’s institutional and theoretical, including, sexual and reproductive health rights.

In the process of project implementation, Social Justice Center will actively collaborate with other NGOs working on the above-mentioned topics.
