The United Nations Development Program (UNDP), with the financial support of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, implements the project "Supporting Leadership, Equality, Advocacy and Democracy in Georgia (LEAD)".
To achieve The aim of the project is to improve the representation of religious and ethnic minorities in political discourse and to promote greater social cohesion by bridging the gap between minority and majority groups through positive interventions.
To achieve these goals, the Social Justice Centre will undertake the following activities
- Facilitating inclusive community discussions in different regions on the theme "The Georgia We Want". These discussions aim to promote collective visioning, and the Centre will compile the results into an analytical document for public and policymaker review.
- Strengthening a solidarity platform bringing together activists from different regions such as Adjara, Javakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Kakheti, Gali, Pankisi and Tbilisi. The platform's mission is to foster genuine solidarity between different ethnic and religious groups and to highlight their priorities in the political sphere. The project supports this platform and its members through small grants and internship initiatives.
- To undertake interdisciplinary research focusing on the needs of ethnic and religious minorities. This research will address issues such as the socio-economic status of ecomigrants in Adigeni and Tsalka, the funding practices and property transfers of religious organisations, and the maintenance of religious neutrality during pre-election periods. The project will also examine the challenges and opportunities for youth employment in ethnic minority communities.
