During 15th of July (2014) – 30th of June (2015) Social Justice Center will implement the project “Supporting freedom of religion and strengthening the capacities of religious minority groups in Georgia” The project is financed by U.S. Embassy in the frameworks of the Democracy Commission Small Grant Program and represents the continuation of the project “Free Legal Aid for Religious Minorities” financed by U.S. Embassy in 2013-2014.
The proposed project aims at promoting freedom of religion through strategic litigation and capacity building activities for religious minority groups. It will address the need to empower religious minority groups in Georgia in exercising their rights. Social Justice Center will conduct trainings to nearly 200 representatives of religious minorities about the mechanisms of advocating and protecting rights. There will be organized inter-confessional thematic working meetings which will be aimed at organizing broad discussion on topics such as religious indoctrination in schools, proselytism, funding of religious organizations, hate crimes on the basis of religion, etc.
Social Justice Center will spread newsletter (electronically) periodically about the State Agency on Religious Issues and about the activities of inter-agencies commission. In the newsletter there will be collected information about the restrictions of the use of freedom of religion.
For raising the awareness in the society there will be spread short video clips about the human rights situation of the religious minorities by the social network.
