From October 2019, Social Justice Center with the support from Swiss Embassy commenced a new project “Strengthening ethnic minority integration and rights protection via research, education, advocacy, and confidence-building activities”. The primary goal of the project is to ensure reflection of systematic problems, grievances, and needs of the ethnic minority groups in the political agenda and to strengthen the capacity of the ethnic minority groups in various dimensions. To promote the creation of policy based on ideas of integration and social transformation, the project team will simultaneously advocate for changes on the local and central level; at the same time, the project team will support the establishment of solid frameworks and platforms for political participation and influence on public politics by local community activists.

To achieve overarching goal, following objectives have been set:

1. Promote research-based knowledge and awareness within decision-makers and political institutions on ethnic minority issues and strengthen minority rights protection through strategic litigation and advocacy;
2. Strengthening the capacity of local activists in Kvemo Kartli, Kakheti, and Samtskhe-Javakheti by supporting democratic social transformation and self-organization practices within the identified communities;
3. Strengthening community dialogue and protection of ethnic minority groups via community mediation promotion;
4. Re-shift identities from religious and ethnocentrism to citizenship identities in the majoritarian ethnic Georgian population.
